THE IDEA OF „BUY AND SELL IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD” IN LOCAL COMMERCIAL SHOPPING SITES AND THE CONCEPT OF „SMART CITY”

Summary

On-line shopping sites are becoming more popular, mainly because of the diversity of goods, time saving, comfort conditions during the purchase, and availability for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Examples of such solutions can be on-line auction websites, on-line shops or shopping malls, which – thanks to the Internet – are gaining popularity and recognition not only in Poland but also abroad.
You can see that since some time the idea of „buying in your neighbourhood” in the local on-line shopping portals is more and more popular. In these places you can find offers including clothing, electronics and cars, while buyers and sellers are the people „in you neighbourhood”, i.e. living in the same town, district or province.
Is the new idea of on-line-shopping a part of the foundation of the „Smart City” concept and can it be a determinant of vision of an intelligent city, or is it just another e-commerce business model? Will „Buying in you neighbourhood” become the future intelligent network in the development of Polish cities, or will it be just another way of making choices for residents of those cities? These are the questions that the author will try to answer later in this work.
