ICT IN THE INFORMATION SOCIETY − ADDICTIONS SYNDROME
Summary
The progress of information and communication technologies (ICT) helps the information society to develop. Because ICTs give more and more opportunities and make it easier for both the economies, and single citizens, they become more and more dependent on them. This addiction can be a serious problem not only in terms of users’ health but also for the functioning of the economy and society as a whole in case of physically and mentally addictive devices’ failure. It is hard to imagine one’s life without mobile phones, internet and wireless communication; that is why every, even short-term failure, can cause chaos.
