HYBRID MODEL OF ON-LINE TRUST
Summary
This paper examines the impact of computer mediated communication on interpersonal trust in three kinds of situations: interpersonal communication, on-line negotiations and on-line counseling and therapy. Presented results suggest there are two most important Internet features that infl uence evaluation of information or interlocutor’s credibility: lack of nonverbal signs and access to actual information. Their consequences: anonymity, short-time and attractiveness can decrease or increase the perception of risk and the level of interpersonal trust. The hybrid model of on-line trust shows possible correlations between these factors and helps to understand the active nature of trust.
