STRESZCZENIE
W artykule zweryfikowano następującą hipotezę: przyczyną słabszej pozycji gospodarczej ściany wschodniej wobec reszty Polski jest jej rolniczy charakter. Procedura weryfikacji składała się z trzech etapów. Pierwszy z nich polegał na uzasadnieniu rolniczego charakteru ściany wschodniej na tle rolnictwa reszty Polski za pomocą wybranych kilku cech, które wykazały przewagę rolnictwa ściany wschodniej nad rolnictwem reszty Polski. W drugim etapie procedury weryfikacji postawionej hipotezy sprawdzono również, wykorzystując wybrane cechy ekonomiczne, negatywne skutki rolniczego charakteru ściany wschodniej w porównaniu z resztą Polski. W trzecim zaś etapie procedury wykazano negatywne skutki społeczne rolniczego charakteru ściany wschodniej na tle reszty Polski. Wniosek końcowy jest następujący: w badanym przedziale czasowym (2003–2011 brak pozytywnych skutków polityki spójności.

CONTINUATION OF THE DISCUSSION ON CERTAIN ASPECTS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION OF THE EASTERN WALL IN COMPARISON WITH THE REST OF POLAND IN YEARS 2003–2011
Abstract
The article verified the following hypothesis: the cause of a weaker economic position of the Eastern wall against the rest of Poland lies in its agricultural character. The verification procedure consisted of three stages. The first of these was to justify the agricultural nature of the Eastern wall against the background of the agriculture in the rest of Poland using a few selected characteristics which showed the advantage of agriculture of the Eastern wall over the rest of Poland. In the second stage of the verification procedure of the hypothesis, economic and negative effects of the agricultural nature of the Eastern wall compared to the rest of the Poland were checked, using some selected characteristics as well. The third stage of the procedure has shown negative social impacts of the agricultural nature of the Eastern wall against the background of the rest of Poland. The conclusion is the following sentence: in studied time interval (2003–2011) there were no positive effects of cohesion policy.
