STRESZCZENIE
W artykule podjęto problem umieralności z perspektywy historii życia. Zanalizowano wydarzenia z historii obejmującej okres od wczesnego dzieciństwa do ostatniego roku życia. Wykorzystując panelowe badanie Survey on Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe, autorki zbadały wpływ wydarzeń z przeszłości na ryzyko zgonu pod warunkiem dożycia 50. lat w modelu proporcjonalnego ryzyka. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na istotny wpływ sytuacji materialnej w dzieciństwie, wyrażonej liczbą pokoi w domu rodzinnym w wieku 10 lat, regularnej opieki medycznej obejmującej leczenie dentystyczne i badania krwi w wieku dorosłym, a także okresy złego stanu zdrowia po 15. roku życia na ryzyko zgonu osób w wieku co najmniej 50 lat.

MORTALITY AND LIFE COURSE
Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of mortality form the life course perspective. We analyze events occurred in the life course, including the period from early childhood to the last year of life. Using the panel data from the Survey on Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe, the authors examine the impact of the events from the past on the risk of death conditional on survival till the age of 50 in the proportional hazards model. The results indicate a significant infl uence of the material situation in childhood measured with the number of rooms in the family home at the age of 10, regular medical care including dental care and blood tests in adulthood as well as periods of ill health after 15th year of life on the risk of death for people aged at least 50.
