STRESZCZENIE
Wzrost gospodarczy nie jest tym samym, co wzrost dobrobytu, nadal jednak PKB często interpretuje się jako miarę wzrostu dobrobytu. W opracowaniu przyjęto, że wzrost gospodarczy mierzony PKB determinuje wzrost dobrobytu, jednak przyrost dobrobytu nie jest proporcjonalny do przyrostu PKB. W gospodarkach rozwijających się w początkowej fazie rozwoju gospodarki dobrobyt mierzony wskaźnikiem Quality of Life oraz wskaźnikiem rozwoju społecznego HDI postępuje stosunkowo szybko, ale wolniej niż wzrost gospodarczy.
Analizowane wskaźniki: PKB per capita, Quality of Life i HDI, wyznaczają badanym krajom ich miejsce w rankingu ze względu na poziom wzrostu gospodarczego oraz dobrobytu ekonomiczno-społecznego. Według wskazań tych mierników najwyższy wzrost gospodarczy i najwyższy poziom dobrobytu mają Niemcy. Na następnej pozycji plasują się Czechy, a po nich Polska. Pozycję czwartą zajmuje Słowacja, piątą Litwa, następnie Białoruś i jako ostatnia w szeregu plasuje się Ukraina.

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING IN SELECTED EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
Abstract
Economic growth is not the same as the increase in prosperity. Still, GDP is often interpreted as a measure of prosperity. The study assumed that economic growth measured by GDP determines the increase in prosperity, but prosperity increase is not proportional to the increase in GDP. In developing economies in the early stages of economic development measured by the well-being of Quality of Life and the Human Development Index HDI progressing relatively quickly, but more slowly than economic growth. The analyzed indicators, GDP per capita, Quality of Life and HDI countries designate considered their position in the ranking because of the level of economic growth and prosperity and economic-social development. According to the indications of these meters the highest growth and highest level of prosperity to Germany. The next item followed by the Czech Republic and Poland after them. Slovakia occupies the fourth position, the fifth Lithuania, followed by Belarus and the last in a series of ranks Ukraine.
