Rapid growth of informative techniques, especially dynamic development of the internet, affected signifi cantly the face of numismatics in Poland. This article talks over the transformations in the collecting sector, which resulted in the foundation of dynamic market within unusual coins. The issues concerning its availability, fl uidity and shallowness were discussed. This market has been evaluated and analyzed according to its competitiveness against traditional investing tools. All merits and drawbacks have been taken into consideration. This article makes an attempt to assess not only the actual value of numismatic market but also the factors determining its development or stagnation in the future. The author enumerates the most common dangers on numismatic market, particularly the risk of internet fraud as well as inaccurate assessment of the coin condition. This is especially important during the process of coin value assessment.
