Fuzje i przejęcia przedsiębiorstw należą do procesów, które towarzyszą rozwojowi gospodarki. W krajach rozwiniętych są jedną z podstawowych metod realizacji strategii rozwoju firm. W artykule zaprezentowano rolę tych procesów w strategii wzrostu przedsiębiorstwa, charakterystykę fuzji i przejęć, porównano zewnętrzne i wewnętrzne ścieżki wzrostu firmy oraz podjęto próbę syntetycznego przedstawienia motywów fuzji i przejęć przedsiębiorstw, a także ich zalety i wady.

Mergers and acquisitions are among the processes that accompany economic growth. In the developed countries, they are one of the basic corporate growth strategies. The paper presents the role of these processes in the company’s growth strategy. It discusses the characteristics of mergers and acquisitions, compares internal and external corporate growth paths and attempts to present in a synthetic way the motives of mergers and acquisitions, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
