Streszczenie
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie dotychczasowego wpływu sektora usług na wzrost PKB w Unii Europejskiej i potencjalnych możliwości zwiększenia jego tempa w wyniku pogłębienia integracji rynkowej w tym sektorze gospodarki. W analizie wykorzystano takie wskaźniki ekonomiczne jak: wzrost realnego PKB, wydajności pracy, produktywności czynników wytwórczych MFP i poziom nakładów w sektorach ICT. Posłużono się danymi statystycznymi Komisji Europejskiej oraz bazami danych OECD, UNCTAD oraz the Conference Board. Do najważniejszych problemów UE należy zaliczyć: niskie tempo wzrostu wydajności pracy i MFP, zarówno w sektorze usług, jak i w całej gospodarce w porównaniu ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi. Wzrost stopnia integracji rynku usług pozwoliłby poprawić te wskaźniki gospodarcze, co według szacunków Komisji Europejskiej może się przyczynić do wzrostu PKB UE nawet o 2,6%.

GROWTH POTENTIAL OF THE EU INTERNAL MARKET FOR SERVICES
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the service sector’s impact so far on GDP growth in the European Union and the potential to increase its dynamics as a result of the deepening of market integration in this sector of the economy. In the analysis there were used such economic indicators like: real GDP growth, labor productivity, multifactor productivity and the level of ICT capital. It was based mainly on statistical data from the European Commission as well as on OECD, and the Conference Board databases. The main problems of the EU include: low growth rate of labor productivity and MFP, both in the service sector and across the economy as compared to the US. The increased degree of service market integration would improve the economic indicators and, according to the European Commission’s estimates could contribute to the EU’s GDP growth by up to 2.6%.
