Streszczenie
Celem opracowania było określenie przekształceń oraz uwarunkowań w rozmiarach, strukturze rodzajowej, walutowej i geograficznej rezerw walutowych świata. Badaniami objęto lata 1990–2011, a zastosowane metody badawcze to analiza materiałów statystycznych i literatury przedmiotu. Wyniki analizy przedstawiono w pięciu punktach (stosownie do przyjętego celu), a ich syntetyczną wersję zawarto w podsumowaniu.

CURRENCY RESERVES IN THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD ECONOMY
Summary
The purpose of the paper was to determine the transformations and determinants of the world currency reserves volume and their structures by type, currency and geography. The research has been conducted for period 1990–2011. Statistical data and literature analyses were the research methods. The results have been presented and divided into five sections (accordingly to the purpose), and their generalized version is included as the conclusions.
