DETERMINANTS OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY IN ENTERPRISES
Summary
Meaning of innovations and research and development activity is important and widely discussed. Enterprises are recognized as innovative when use in direct or indirect manner the results of research and development activities. One of the requirements of being innovative is therefore independent R&D activity, application of results obtained by other entities, or cooperation with other organisation within R&D, which contributes to extending the knowledge essential in innovative processes. The object of consideration in the dissertation is the indication of main factors determining the level of engagement of enterprise in creating R&D centers. The fundamental goal is the identifi cation of determinants of research and development activity, their character and direction of interaction. The observed decrease of financial edition on this kind of activity indicates its underestimating role in innovative process. The basic investigative hypothesis is that the existence of a range of social, political and economical determinants, activates or deactivates R&D activities. Identification of those will help to describe an environment for R&D centers to grow. Creation and grow of research and development centers in structures of enterprises and its close collaboration with manufacturing centers is a key to create an innovative enterprise.
