Summary
The article focuses on the evolution of the industrial policy in the European Union. The industrial policy is one of the youngest policies of the EU. It was only Maastricht Treaty that granted rights in the field of the industrial policy to the Community. The new industrial policy of the Union places emphasis on the development of the knowledge-based economy, in which a strong industrial basis will be an important element.
