Streszczenie
Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce funkcjonowania dużych banków. Autor podjął się próby oceny grupy 20 największych banków na świecie wg kryterium sumy aktywów. Horyzont czasowy wyznaczony został na lata 2007 i 2011 ze względu na możliwość ujęcia lat, w których banki odnotowywały zwiększone wartości aktywów, jak i lat, w których odnotowywały spadki wartości aktywów spowodowane kryzysem na rynkach finansowych. Przeprowadzona analiza ukazała jak ogromna wartość aktywów jest w posiadaniu zaledwie dwudziestu instytucji na świecie i jak duża zmiana dokonała się na przestrzeni ostatnich czterech lat. Uwidocznił się problem największych szwajcarskich banków oraz niewątpliwy biznesowy sukces banków chińskich.
EVALUATION OF POSITION OF THE LARGEST BANKS IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY BEFORE AND AFTER (?) THE CRISIS
Summary
The article is devoted to the issue of the functioning of large banks. The author attempted to assess the top 20 banks in the world, according to the criterion of total assets. The analyzed period covers the years 2007 and 2011 due to the possibility of recognition of years in which banks have been registering increased value of assets and the years in which they registered declines in the value of assets due to the crisis on the financial markets. The analysis showed that a tremendous value of the assets is held by only twenty institutions in the world, and what a big change has taken place over the last four years. The problem of the largest Swiss banks and the undisputable business success of Chinese banks have been revealed.
